Iligan City launches Business Month
On October 3, 2011, Iligan Business Month
was formally launched at the Anahaw Amphitheatre. It
is a collaborative project of Councilor Siao, Chamber of Commerce &
Industry Foundation Iligan, Inc. and DTI – Lanao del Norte. Joining the
roster of project partners are MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, Asian
Institute of Management - Team Energy Center for Bridging Leadership, Iligan
City Council of Women, Lanao Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Iligan Bay
Chamber of Industries. The launching was
followed with a motorcade around the city and a press conference at Gaisano
Mall.
One Barangay One Product (OBOP) Program was also launched on the same day. Its concept is based on Japan’s successful One Village One Product – a form of people’s participation in the regional development of that country.
OTOP has the following objectives: (1) To identify, develop and promote a specific product or service with competitive advantage within each barangay. and (2) To support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture, offer, and market distinctive products thru the use of indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.
To help budding entrepreneurs succeed in this undertaking, several activities are lined up; to wit:
October 7 – Intellectual Property Rights Seminar
October 13 – Accounting for Non Accountants
October 14 – Business Forum
October 20-22 – Small Business Matters and Trade Fair
October 22 – Business Networking Event for Young Entrepreneurs
October 20-23 – Great City Wide Sale
October 26 – Iligan Business Night
October 29-30 – Mindanao Bloggers Summit
October 30 – BPO – IT Solution Exhibits.
Launching the Iligan Business Month is indeed a bold step to empower Iliganons, mobilize resources and rake the benefits of entrepreneurship. It will also pave the way to make the city a new investment destination in Mindanao. Hence, a more improved city with great opportunities to enjoy and share. ASENSO ILIGANON!!!
