Iligan City in a State of Calamity

Iligan
City is in a State of Calamity after Typhoon Sendong has hit the place on Friday
night. Heavy rains and strong winds resulted to flashfloods causing damages to
hundreds of houses and even lives. With this calamity, over 10 evacuation
centers were created to accommodate homeless victims; to wit:
1. ILIGAN CITY CENTRAL SCHOOL,
2. TAMBACAN BARANGAY HALL,3. TUBOD MANGGA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
4. MERILA CHAPEL,
5. PUGAAN BARANGAY HALL,
6. STA CRUZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN ROGONGON,
7. KABANGAHAN ELEM SCHOOL IN ROGONGON,
8. TIBANGA GYM, MSU IIT,
9. SAN LORENZO RUIZ PARISH CHURCH,
10. LUINAB ELEM SCHOOL.
11. MADRASA EVACUATION CENTER,
12. ECHAVES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL,
13. FRANCISCAN SEMINARY,
14. LADY OF FAMITA PARISH IN DIGKILAAN
These evacuation centers are occupied by at least a hundred
families each having immediate needs for food, shelter, clothing and medicine. Various
civic organizations, private businesses and the city government extend help to
them. Also, a number of student volunteers assist in serving relief goods to the
victims.
Fleire Castro, one of the founders of Iligan Bloggers Society Inc., initiated One For Iligan campaign to receive donations using Paypal. Other members of the group readily agreed and started to promote it in social media networks. Support from various bloggers came in and people across the globe also shared their donations.
